I am a 30 year old single mom of two little angels. I work full time and go to school full time. Its hard trying to juggle all that life throws at you. At times I feel as if I am alone in this. I am pretty sure there are alot of other mothers who feel like myself. The main reason I created this blog was for my PSYCH class and also to see if there are other mothers out there that go through what I go through.

Overwhelm
It is difficult and challenging to be a parent today, and it is even more difficult to raise children alone. We as parents are often overwhelmed and lacking the parenting skills necessary to do a good job. But good solid parenting has less to do with the number of parents in the home and more to do with the quality of parenting. Whether the single parent household is headed by a mother, father, or a grandparent, raising children alone is an enormous task. Why should we care? Because the statistics tell us that most of us will live in, know of or be involved with a single parent family at some point.

im not sure i understand your question. why should we care about the way we are raising our children?
ReplyDelete@ delacrc - I strongly agree.
ReplyDeleteKelly, if you get absorb and/or distracted with your surroundings (i.e. research, statistics...) you will lose a piece of yourself, especially from a personality prospective. You are your own reportcard; Your children will be the fruits of your labor when they graduate, date, and have children on there own.
Here is my point. Keep up the good work! And do not forget to enjoy life. You know what I am talking about...Have your children learn about there hertiage and have them travel to the country side of Dominican Republic and experience, and embrace their family.
